Riccardo T. Galbato

    Riccardo T. Galbato joined the firm in October, 2000, after practicing in Syracuse for several years. While working in Syracuse, he developed trial experience in Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice litigation.

    Rick was born and raised in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School in 1987. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University, magna cum laude, in 1991 with a B.S. in Economics and Capital University Law School, cum laude, in 1995, where he was a member of the Capital University Law Review and served as a teaching assistant. He also has served as an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Cayuga Community College.

    Rick's practice areas include Workers' Compensation, Municipal Law, Zoning and Planning, Commercial and Residential Real Estate, including real estate development subdivisions, Estate Planning, and Business Formation. Rick has represented municipalities and public corporations. He has also represented political candidates in Election Law cases.

    In 2007, Rick was appointed to the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission for the Seventh Judicial District which is an independent screening panel for judicial candidates.

    Rick has strong ties to Cayuga County, not only personally, but through his family. The Galbato family has owned and operated the Tom Thumb Restaurant overlooking Owasco lake in the Town of Owasco since 1978. The family also established CARM (Curb Alcohol Related Mortalities), an association formed in 1979 in memory of his mother, Carmela Galbato. Rick presents the annual CARM scholarship at Auburn High School every spring. Rick has served on the Board of Directors of Neighborhood House. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Cayuga County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

    Long active in local politics, Rick served as Campaign Chair for Cayuga County District Attorney James Vargason in 2003, Gary Finch for New York State Assembly in 1999 and was a County Coordinator for Judge Henry Scudder for Supreme Court in 1996. Rick has served as legal counsel to the Cayuga County Republican Committee and a member of the County Committee. He was also a Judicial Delegate to the 7th Republican Judicial District Convention in 1996.

    Rick is married to the former Suzanne Orofino, also a native of Auburn, and the couple has two children, Nicholas and Michael.
